Background of Shin-Godzilla Chapter 5 : The world without Newclear weapons

I heard "Shin-Godzilla" was received well at north America, and I feel a sense of relief even if most of audience are Kaijyu otaku or Evangelion otaku.
It seems that most of them enjoyed point of the movie so I believe I have nothing to add on and would like to continue to talk about background of it.

Until first Godzilla was released in 1954, consistently the big monster which spread radioactivity is a metaphor of a new clear bomb.
As you likely know, Japan is a only nation in the world to be bombed with atomic weapon (in other words America is a only nation to used atomic weapon).
The movie "Shin-Godzilla" give it only a mention of 2 black and white photographies of bombed area.
I think it has 2 points. Firstly, the director Hideaki Anno wanted to describe political drama as fast as possible so he needed to omit sentimental description.
(In fact he dinied the proposal of the setting read character Yaguchi and Pertterson were once love relationship)
In the second place, every Japanese have seen pictures of victims of atomic weapon once at least, for example woman who has burned-out skin or a pile of dead civilians like a Holocaust. We remind them when we see the bombed area photographies so he didn't need to describe it.

Of course I don't mean to say Japanese are only victim in the pacific war. Japanese army killed more people at south-eastern Asia than victims of atomic bomb, and right from the start Japan had no chance to win and had better raise the white flag in surrender much earlier.
In the movie central character Randou Yaguchi said "In the World War 2, many Japanese were killed by optimistic speculation of the government." In facts leading cause of death of Japanese soldiers at world war 2 is neither atomic bomb nor kamikaze attack but starving...

But I also heard that some one at oversea had a feeling of strangeness and criticized the movie "WTF! Drop the newclear bomb and kill Godzilla soon!"
I haven't enough brain to judge who is the justice or not, I just want to say it's just a culture gap matter and it's a same case Japanese have a feeling of strangeness when script writers of Hollywood
didn't background work at all and describe a new clear weapon as just a bit stronger bomb.
And I half expect people who knows new clear weapons only through Hollywood movies or biased schoolbook must choose a piece of shit who shouldn't have a nuclear button as president someday...
(I heard recently some of schoolbook put down with different opinions but I'm living in Japan so I don't know the matter of the fact)

Before the movie released, Barack Obama visited one of the bombed area Hiroshima as incumbent president for the first time. It's a historic and emotional moment but I also know government officials said this visit is not for "apologizing".
Personally speaking leaving aside right and wrong of the wars, someday American president should apologize about usage of inhumane weapons, now only atomic bomb but also agent orange in the Vietnam war and depleted uranium bomb in the Iraq war (and I think it's no accident that all of them were used to only Asian people)
But I understand American president has so many political ties with rightish people just like Japanese prime minister has, so if victims of atomic bombs were to urge him to apologize this visit wouldn't happen.
And I also think it's a hypocrisy if I anger representing the victims despite they definitely say they don't wish him to apologize.

It seems that America and Japan could break a cycle of hatred, but countries of Asia and middle east still can't. China and South Korea still continue to do anti-Japan propaganda, and now many of Japanese find out it's not a human rights issue but just a political issue so no matter how much we pay money and how many times we lower our head they won't forgive Japan forever.
I'd like to believe America is a alliance partner but I'm disappointed the Hollywood, who have described Japanese or Russian as enemy for a long time, now describe Chinese as friendly person because China is a big market, despite it's a rogue nation who has a territorial ambition.
In the movie Randou also said self-deprecating script "Postwar era for Japan last forever". I'm a peace lover and the misery war should never be repeated, and I understand many of Japanese want keep things as they are, but if Japanese want to achieve true self-reliance honestly speaking there's only 2 way, to equip itself with nuclear arms or to join the winning side in next world war.

This would be the last chapter I write about the movie, maybe I'll write about the relationship between the last scene of the movie and nuclear accident, but it seems that no one read by blog so it depends on my mood...
